Triathlon Events

The Swim

Either one (Sprint) or three (Challenge) 500m laps of the lake – a volcanic crater – the central feature of the Bois Cheri location.  A mass start treading water swimming anticlockwise in a rectangle marked by 4 buoys. There will be an Australian exit and short distance on the grass after each lap of the Challenge. The location is perfect for supporters and spectators to watch the race from the tea rooms and restaurant.

The Ride

The 17k bike route offers a balance of hilly but achievable cycling tracks, overtaking opportunities with enjoyable paths and breathtaking views. It starts out on some steep grassy tracks and then settles into a mix of narrow woodland trails, rocky climbs and open tracks. A couple nice of single tracks in the tea fields and some ridable water crossings make it a really awesome ride. There’s about 20% fast, wide, downhill trails. We climb up gently towards another volcanic crater before coming back down and returning past the main transition area where those doing the Sprint will dismount for the run and those doing the Challenge will continue for a second lap. This is great for spectators and will give you that extra encouragement for the second lap.

Refreshment Points

  • Refreshment points will offer water & soft drinks, Lucozade, Isostar Bars, bananas and salt.
  • Refreshment points can be accessed at the start of each bike lap. (ie 17km apart) and at the start and midway point of the run laps (ie every 2.5km).
  • For Tri and Duathlons, you can also keep your own supplies in transition to carry and use as you wish.

The Run

A 5k circuit around the tropical grounds of the Tea Estate. The trail has a varied mix of wide and narrow off road paths on hilly and undulating terrain. There are a couple of short, technical climbs & descents and some more gentle ups and downs. Several water crossings, beautiful scenery and varied plant life make this a very special run. Parts of the course will be very muddy and you will get your feet wet!
